The 1st NexGen Coding Challenge - 2025

Welcome to the 1st NextGen Coding Challenge! (NOTE: The date was changed from March 7 to March 8.)

The School of Computing at Middle Georgia State University is thrilled to invite high school students to showcase their programming prowess in an exciting Python coding competition!

Taking place on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at our Warner Robins campus , this event offers a unique opportunity for aspiring developers to collaborate, solve complex challenges, and experience a collegiate environment dedicated to innovation in computing.

Teams of two to four students will tackle a series of engaging Python programming challenges, each designed to test and enhance their problem-solving skills and coding expertise. Throughout two to three challenge blocks, participants will create code solutions that may include developing functions, crafting short code sequences, or even building object-oriented classes. Teams may bring laptops to work on challenges.

After each challenge block, teams will have the chance to present and discuss their solutions with our panel of judges, gaining valuable feedback and insight from computing professionals and faculty.

This challenge offers an opportunity to collaborate, learn, and compete in modern software engineering under the guidance of MGA professionals, with a chance to win prizes!

Registration is free, lunch and t-shirts will be provided.
